Cats are the most popular pet in the world, and it’s not hard to see why. They’re cute, cuddly, and they always seem to know when you need a little extra love. But did you know that cats share many similarities with humans?

Cats have been domesticated for over 10,000 years. Unlike other animals who were domesticated by man (dogs), cats chose us as their companions on their own accord. This is because of our similar social structures – both human beings and felines live in groups or colonies where there is a hierarchy of power among members of the group. The alpha cat will be respected by all others within its colony while those lower down on the totem pole may be bullied or ignored altogether. Humans also live in societies where we have hierarchies based off wealth and power which can lead to bullying or even violence at times if someone feels they’ve been wronged by another person higher up on the totem pole than themself. It’s no wonder then that these two species would find each other so enticing!
